I just realized most of those picks make me look like a douchey hipster. I usually like bad cheesy pop music, I swear. But honestly, toss some nice harmonies and/or some handclaps or unusual drums into your song (see also Adele’s “Rumor Has It,” Voegele’s “Inside Out,” Death Cab’s “Grapevine Fires” and The Avett Brothers’ “Slight Figure of Speech”) and you’ve got me.
